About

Jennifer is a third-year PhD student in Psychology at the University of Southampton, specialising in trauma research. Her doctoral work focuses on intergenerational trauma and mental health in Arab families, including refugees and asylum seekers.

She is particularly interested in clinical training and research that addresses trauma within family and systemic contexts. Jennifer’s passion lies in improving mental health for individuals and their families. She is interested in Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) and enjoys collaborating with experts by experience in the community to co-produce culturally appropriate psychological assessments and interventions. Her goal is to raise the voices of underserved communities, enabling them to inform services, systems, practice, and policy.

Alongside her PhD, Jennifer is a Teaching Assistant across several undergraduate and MSc modules in the School of Psychology. She also works part-time as a Senior Research Assistant contributing to a range of research projects at the Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice (CHRP) in the School of Psychology.

In addition, Jennifer is a Senior Policy Associate at Public Policy Southampton, University of Southampton, where she supports research and policy projects focused on migrant women’s rights and access to healthcare.
