Dr. Jezreel Castillo is a Marie S. Curie Postdoctoral Fellow based in the School of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Jez Castillo’s current research uses analytical methods in black hole perturbation theory to better understand the evolution and detection of gravitational wave sources relevant to the upcoming LISA mission, a space-based gravitational wave observatory. He is primarily focused on extreme-mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs), binary systems with a massive central black hole primary and an orbiting compact object secondary. Using the machinery of black hole perturbation theory, analytical expressions of relevant quantities for their evolution and detection are computed.
