Dr Mikoshiba is an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow based in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at University of Southampton.
Dr Mikoshiba is an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellow based in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at University of Southampton.
Dr Mikoshiba's research focusses on how race mediates class in processes of migratisation, or the construction of some - and not others - as migrant outsiders, belonging elsewhere. She examines cross-contextually the situational intersections of race, class and gender in the migratisation experiences of highly-skilled, racially minoritised professionals.
Dr Mikoshiba has module-convening and teaching experience in modules on migration, citizenship and belonging; racisms and racial formation; and introductory sociology.
Dr Mikoshiba joined the University in 2025. Prior to joining the University, she completed her PhD in Sociology at Lancaster University, where she also worked as an Associate Lecturer in the Sociology department.
