Find out more about our research interests and partnerships.
Our research aims to contribute to the development of passenger and freight transport systems which are environmentally, economically and socially sustainable. It focuses on the interactions between behaviour, infrastructure and operations and how they translate into policy and practice. We have expertise across all major transport modes and from a range of disciplinary backgrounds. Specific areas of current focus include:
Freight and logistics
Geospatial analysis of transport systems
Human factors in transport
Infrastructure cost modelling
Public transport demand and operations
Resilience and vulnerability of transport systems
Safety
Sustainability and the environment
Traffic management and control
Our work is funded by a range of government and industry sources. We frequently work in partnership with a range of external companies and organisations and with other universities around the world. See the ‘Projects’ section of this website for more details of current and recent research.
