Our summer schools and residential courses give you the chance to explore subjects you’re curious about, meet new people, build confidence and take part in engaging academic activities. These programmes are designed to help you gain new skills and understand more about university study and future pathways.

Pre-16 summer schools

Our pre‑16 summer schools and residential courses give younger learners the chance to explore new subjects and take part in hands‑on learning in a supportive environment. You’ll use our world‑class facilities, stay in our halls of residence, join taster sessions and get a real insight into student life. We can offer free places if you meet our Widening Participation eligibility criteria.

Over-16 summer schools

Our university summer schools for Year 12 students provide opportunity to explore subjects in depth before you apply. On our Electronics and Computer Science courses, you’ll take part in real experiments using our specialist facilities. You’ll explore the cutting‑edge interface between electronics and healthcare technologies on our Biomedical Engineering course. If you’re interested in becoming a doctor, you can try our online Experience Medicine course with LifeLab or join our Widening Access to Medicine Taster Course.

University student and graduate summer schools

Current university students and graduates can choose an exciting short-term course combined with fun social-cultural activities and experience the curriculum of a Russell Group university and life in the UK.
