Inspection, Monitoring & Health Management of Aerospace Systems
This Level 7 module assesses the digital tools and technologies used for inspection, monitoring and maintenance of aerospace systems and structures, while introducing the underlying principles of health management in aerospace engineering.
The module will cover the use of advanced technologies to monitor the condition of aircraft and spacecraft components to enhance safety, optimize maintenance, and maximize operational efficiency. The focus is on various aerospace domains such as aircraft structures, propulsion systems, auxiliary systems, and autonomous systems. -

Instrumentation, Signal Processing and Medical Imaging
Medical Devices lie at the heart of all measurements performed by Cardiac Physiologists and correct use is therefore essential to providing a high quality service.
This module will introduce you to the principle of operation of common devices that you will encounter during your practice. You will learn how their performance is measured and determine if they are suitable for clinical use. You will discuss how performance can be optimised through calibration, quality assurance and standard operating procedures as well as consider risks.
This module has a strong emphasis on application to practice, taking simple scientific concepts and translating them to the particular device being studied. -

Insurance Contract Law
Insurance underpins much of economic activity, also has a significant social function. In this module, we will consider both the conceptual idea of channelling and allocating risks by insurance and technical commercial law issues within insurance contract law. The module therefore builds on general contract law concepts and principles, and provides a range of interesting cases of the involvement of insurance in our daily and social life, such as the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA)’s coronavirus-related business interruption insurance test case.
Insurance law has ancient roots- many of the principles pre-date those in general contract law- but it has survived largely unchanged for centuries. This is likely to change considerably in the near future as the Law Commission continues its extensive project to reform insurance contract law and as insurance law has to adapt to modern circumstances. We will look into the traditional rules of insurance and update our knowledge and vision on insurance law with the Law Commission project of Insurance Contract Law. -

Insurance Law
Insurance is an essential condition to undertake commercial transactions or complex ventures, whatever their nature. As a foundation for commerce, insurance plays an important role in society, for commercial risk management as well as a safety net for undertakings. The commercial insurance industry in the UK, with its centre at Lloyd’s of London, is of global importance. In this module, we explore how insurance contracts are made and how to interpret commercial insurance policies against the background of insurance case law and statutes. UK law underwent significant statutory reform in 2016 and it is therefore a dynamic period and an exciting time to study insurance law. The module looks not only at what the law is, but also at what it ought to be, with inspiration from other jurisdictions. -

Integral Transform Methods
Many classes of problems are difficult to solve in their original domain. An integral transform maps the problem from its original domain into a new domain in which solution is easier. The solution is then mapped back to the original domain with the inverse of the integral transform. This module will provide a systematic mathematical treatment of the theory of integral transforms and its varied applications in applied mathematics and engineering. -
