Integral Transform Methods
Many classes of problems are difficult to solve in their original domain. An integral transform maps the problem from its original domain into a new domain in which solution is easier. The solution is then mapped back to the original domain with the inverse of the integral transform. This module will provide a systematic mathematical treatment of the theory of integral transforms and its varied applications in applied mathematics and engineering. -

Integrated Design
This module builds on the design modules within Parts 1 and 2 and places specific focus on the process of designing a significant piece of civil engineering infrastructure in which the solutions and elements are fully integrated. It extends the more conceptual design process in Part 2 into detailed design, in which students will demonstrate the technical feasibility of the designed infrastructure through application of established industry analysis and project and risk management methods. The module will emphasise the importance of solutions that meet national and global societal requirements through engagement with emergent best practice on issues such as asset management, sustainability, biodiversity, net zero carbon and climate change.
This module seeks to operate in similar manner to a professional design office, with rigorous and self-motivated working and communication practices. Regular studio sessions will allow students to progress their design work in teams with input from a project supervisor. A series of lectures and workshops will support understanding of project and risk management and the wider global and societal context, and consider the tools and techniques that might be applied to incorporate these into the design process. Interim and final reports and presentations to design tutors and fellow students, and possibly external critics from industry, will structure the project and act as milestones for students to demonstrate their design proposal throughout its development. -

Integrated Design
In this module you will apply your theoretical knowledge and practical skills to the conceptual and detailed design of a significant design problem.
CENV2035 City Infrastructure Design Project introduced you to site analysis, conceptual design and project planning. You will spend time at the start of your project defining the constraints and loads acting on your structure, and its location and dimensions, before developing alternative and appropriate concepts. In this module, you will be taking the designs further, into more detailed stages, involving analysis and calculations to determine loads and constraints on structures and to size structural components (beams, columns and foundations) and their connections, and ensure that the components perform in an integrated way to provide an effective and efficient structure. You will be spending most of your time on detailed design calculations, drawings and construction methods for your chosen concept. Your detailed design will be presented as a report, a set of design calculations, AutoCAD drawings, and a group presentation. -

Integrated Logistics
Logistics studies the optimal planning and control of materials, information, and cash-flows through the processes of transformation, transportation, and storage within a system. Integrated logistics studies the management of the logistics across multiple products and multiple firms in a supply chain.
Supply chain coordination studies how companies that retain independent decision making can improve the overall performance in their supply chain while also realising their individual objectives. -

Integrated Logistics
Logistics studies the optimal planning and control of materials, information, and cash-flows through the processes of transformation, transportation, and storage within a system. Integrated logistics studies the management of the logistics across multiple products and multiple firms in a supply chain. The difference is therefore how one could make better (joint) decision to reduce inefficiency.
The design of this module is well aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where cutting edge research results would be used for teaching to ensure the quality of education (SDG 4), and the students are expected to understand how efficient production and/or logistics decisions could be made to achieve responsible consumption and production (SDG 12). -
