Population and Reproductive Health
In this population and reproductive health module, we take a global perspective to learn about the interrelationships between the health of contemporary populations and demographic, social, economic, and health processes. The course structure and syllabus are designed to mirror a population health framework. Teaching sessions pair specific health topics with different determinants, including social, physical, family and health services environments. In the lectures and assignments, we give particular attention to exploring issues related to the measurement of population health, including health in population subgroups. -

Population and Reproductive Health
We will analyse population health issues in different country contexts with reference to epidemiological and nutrition transition frameworks. We will discuss the role of health systems and policy strategies needed for population health interventions. Population health will be analysed through a comprehensive life course approach.
Important sexual and reproductive health issues, such as family planning use, psychosocial aspects of reproductive health, STIs and maternal health will be discussed. We will analyse causes and determinants of poor SRH and discuss how interventions can improve it. -

Population Change in Low and Middle Income Countries
This module aims to introduce you to the variety of demographic experiences in low and middle-income countries across the world, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and, Asia. We will explore the patterns of historical and contemporary changes in population processes in LMICs including mortality, fertility, migration. In this module, we discuss the interrelationships between population change and key social, economic, cultural, political and spatial factors; evaluating the combined impacts on important topical issues including child and maternal health, use of family planning, education and forced migration. -

The module studies key population issues specific to high income countries, such as international migration, population ageing and low fertility.
The module examines the causes, consequences and policy implications of the current population processes. The module offers a focus on the UK in a comparative perspective with other developed countries.
